Windley Gillikin Fulcher

Windley Gillikin Fulcher, 91, of Bettie, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home in the early morning hours of Tuesday, May 13, 2025, with her family by her side. Her family finds comfort and peace, knowing she will spend eternity with her Lord.

A funeral service to honor Windley’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 15th at Woodville Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Michael Blevins. Interment will follow at Woodville Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until 11 a.m., prior to the funeral service.

Windley was born on June 5, 1933, in Morehead City, NC, to the late George and Lottie Gillikin. She attended Bettie and Smyrna Schools until her graduation. After graduating, she worked for several years at Blue Bell Garment Company.

Windley married the love of her life, Mervin Fulcher, on April 1, 1952. Together they built and made their home in Bettie, raising their two children Sandra and Craig.

Windley made a profession of faith as a young child and became a lifelong member of Woodville Baptist Church. She held many fond memories from a child and the church. One of her fondest memories was her daddy lifting her up to ring the church bells on Sunday mornings. She held many positions over the years and was most active in the choir, singing specials with her best friend and partner in crime, Rita Lewis, along with her sister, Letha Lewis.

Windley’s family was always her greatest love and joy. She spent many years caring for her aging mother, and later for her husband until their deaths.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her daughter, Sandra Walton (Kermeth) of Bettie, NC; son, Mervin Craig Fulcher of Bettie, NC; grandchildren, Ryan Radford (Jenny) of Castle Hayne, NC, Tiffany Radford Gray (Wes) of Porters Neck, NC, CJ Fulcher of Bettie, NC, Jennifer Moore (Michael) of Hubert, NC, Jonathan Willis (Matthew) of Germany; and great grandchildren, Hunter Fulcher of Harlowe, NC, Stella Gray and Lillian Gray, both of Porters Neck, NC.

In addition to her parents, Windley was preceded in death by her beloved husband in 2012, Mervin Fulcher; sister, Letha Lewis; and best friend, Rita Lewis.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation for all the prayers, kindness, and support during this time. Special thanks to her special niece, Frances Parish, who would often visit and call to check on her. Also, a special thanks to Julie Walton for her support and care over the years.
