William "Bill" Keefe, 84, of Pine Knoll Shores, North Carolina, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Carolina East Medical Center.
A memorial mass to honor Bill’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, October 6th at St. Mildred’s Catholic Church in Swansboro.
Born on June 21, 1939, in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, Bill was the son of the late Joseph and Marie Keefe. Bill lived a life filled with compassion, dedication, and selflessness.
A devout Catholic, Bill was an integral part of the St. Mildred's Catholic Church community, where he served as an usher and found solace and strength in his faith. He also demonstrated his commitment to service through his involvement with the Knights of Columbus, in Rahway, New Jersey, where he selflessly contributed his time and efforts.
Known for his passion for helping others, Bill volunteered with the Kayak for the Warriors program at Pine Knoll Shores, supporting veterans through outdoor activities.
Additionally, his warmth and compassion touched the lives of many as he drove the courtesy cart at Carteret Health Care Hospital, always ready with a kind word or a comforting smile.
Bill made a significant impact in the community through his volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity, tirelessly building ramps for the elderly and advocating for their needs. His dedication to this cause took him further, serving on their Board and actively participating in initiatives to improve the lives of those less fortunate.
Through his involvement in community projects, Bill hosted a college collegiate challenge, fostering the spirit of teamwork and camaraderie among young individuals while making a difference in the lives of those in need.
Before retiring, Bill lived in Edison, New Jersey for 31 years. During that period, he served as Captain and Firefighter for 25 years, bravely protecting the community with commitment and courage.
Leaving behind a legacy of kindness and compassion, Bill was a devoted husband of 61 years to his cherished wife, Clementina "Tina" Keefe. Together, they built a life filled with love, understanding, and shared values, providing a nurturing environment for their family to thrive.
Bill's steadfast dedication, selflessness, and compassionate spirit will be deeply missed by his family and the countless lives he touched within the community.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Tina Keefe; daughter, Patricia Keefe of Pine Knoll Shores; sister, Mary Jane Rauscher (Bill) of Manalapan, NJ; brothers, Joseph L. Keefe (Catherine) of Rahway, NJ and Mark H. Keefe (Terry) of Linden, NJ; his furry friend, his cat "Fat Boy"; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Ellen Maul.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made in Bill's memory to the Kayak for the Warriors, 100 Municipal Circle, Pine Knoll Shores, NC 28512.
