William Brandon Range, 36, of South River, North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

A graveside service to honor Brandon’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 9th at the Cannon Family Cemetery in South River, officiated by Rev. Richard Patterson. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 8th at Munden Funeral Home. For those unable to attend, the graveside service can be viewed through his obituary page on Munden Funeral Home’s website. The service will remain on the Funeral Home website for 90 days.

William, known to friends and family as Brandon, was born on November 30, 1988, in Morehead City, NC. From a young age he enjoyed baseball and proudly played as a catcher, with his talent earning him a place on the county All-Star Team. He loved the great outdoors, whether it was duck hunting, deer hunting, or setting a gill net, Brandon was always happy being adventurous.

Known for his dedicated work ethic, Brandon was a hard-working man who worked as a commercial fisherman and in the construction field, always skilled with working with his hands.

Brandon had the unique gift of connecting with others, always able to strike up conversations and enjoy a good laugh with those around him. He never met a stranger and easily made friends everywhere he went.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his son, Brayden Range of South River; mother, Deborah Cannon Newell of South River; father, James Clifford Range and wife Brandy of Harlowe; brother, Gavin Range of Harlowe; paternal grandmother, Denise Range of Newport; aunts and uncles, Kathy Range of Newport, Gary Cannon of Cedar Island, and Worth and Kathy Mizzell of Tennessee; cousin, Megan Johnson of Spring Hill, TN; and several great aunts.

Brandon was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, William and Nancy Cannon; paternal grandfather, James Range Sr.; and stepfather, Clifton “Red Dog” Newell.
