William "Bill" Chester Mullins

William "Bill" Chester Mullins, 61, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Pruitt Health - Crystal Coast.

Bill was born on December 3, 1963, in Richmond, Kentucky. From a young age, Bill displayed a remarkable talent for working with sheetrock. He pursued this passion, successfully working for himself in the field for over 30 years where he was affectionally known as the “Sheet Rock Doc”.

A country boy at heart, Bill, was raised on the family farm in Kentucky where he thrived on the hard work of farm life. His love for country music and his deep connection with his farm family in Kentucky remained a significant part of his identity.

In later years, Bill made his home along the coast. No matter where he was, he had a gift for making friends, striking up conversations effortlessly wherever he went. Bill was a fishing fanatic, enjoying both fresh and saltwater fishing adventures.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his son, Justin Mullins and wife Shalaya and their 2 children of Utah; step-sister, Lisa Jo Young Laird and husband Rick of Kentucky; step-brother, Thomas Pete Young of Kentucky; aunt, Faye Mullins; cousins of Carteret County, NC, Joseph “Joey” Mullins, Carol Mullins, Teresa Garcia, James Mullins Jr., and Shirley Brooks; and several other loving cousins, nieces and nephews of Kentucky.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Mullins; step-mother Joyce Taylor Mullins; and sisters, Ellen Kay Sparks and Peggie Jo Grider.
