William John Boenitz, 84, of Newport, died Tuesday May 22, 2012 at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital.
A private service will be held at a later date by the family in New Jersy.
He is survived by his wife Ruth Boenitz of the home: a daughter Sandra Long and husband Brian of NJ: two sons John Boenitz and wife Nora of NJ, and Keith Boenitz of Bogue: eleven grandchildren: and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Susan Boenitz and a son Guy Boenitz.
