William “Bill” Messick, 69, of Emerald Isle, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at Crystal Coast Hospice House.
Bill was born on December 12, 1956, in Milford, Delaware, to the late Norman Jr. and Cleo Messick. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy for six years, with assignments that took him to Scotland, Ireland, and West Virginia. His military service helped shape his values of hard work, discipline, and dedication.
Following his military service, Bill enjoyed a distinguished career as a Communications Satellite Engineer, dedicating 38 years to his work at Blossom Point & Pomonkey. He was respected by his colleagues for his expertise and professionalism. Bill was a gifted athlete who excelled in basketball, baseball, and softball. He was a devoted fan of the North Carolina Tar Heels, rarely missing an opportunity to cheer on his favorite team. He enjoyed the beach and was happy to retire in 2019 to Emerald Isle. Bill will be remembered for his strong character, quick wit, and the impact he made on everyone who knew him.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his wife Kay of the home; daughters, Samantha Petrides (Mike) of Nanjemoy, Maryland, Kendall Messick of Titusville, Florida; stepdaughter, Holly Simpson (Jimmy) of Charlotte Hall, Maryland; sisters, Brenda Messick, Carlyn Calvanesa of Tallahassee, Florida; brother, Keith Messick of Milford, Delaware; grandchildren, Coralee Petrides, Demetrios Petrides, Lainey Rosenbaum, Harrison Rosenbaum, and Adalyn Adams.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his daughter, Heidi Messick.
