Wayne Herbert Karas

Wayne Herbert Karas, 63, of Swansboro, North Carolina, passed away at his home on Thursday, May 22, 2025.

Born on June 27, 1961, in Dansbury, Connecticut, Wayne was the son of the late John and Beverly Karas. He fondly recalled summer visits to the Crystal Coast during his childhood, which eventually led him to make Carteret County his home in 1981.

Wayne was known for his generosity and thoughtfulness, often expressing his love for family through thoughtful gifts and special surprises. A huge fan of Amazon, that was his go to site for all his needs. An enjoyable day for Wayne included swimming in their pool and spending time with his sidekicks, his dogs, Ruby and Bernice. A true sports enthusiast, Wayne was a huge fan of the New York Yankees and the Minnesota Vikings.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his wife, Judy Karas; son, John W. Karas (Yvonne) of Clayton, NC; stepdaughter, Jennifer White (Chris) of Raleigh; stepson, Chris Maxfield of Swansboro; brother, Roy Karas (Cindy) of Wake Forest; grandchildren, Xsavier A. Karas of Swansboro, Lily Karas of Tennessee, William White and Elijah White, both of Raleigh.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
