Wallace Gaskill
February 17, 1926 — August 22, 2015
Wallace Hetherington Gaskill, 89, of Atlantic passed away Saturday, August 22, 2015 at his home.
A graveside service with military honors will be held 3:00 pm Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Atlantic Community Cemetery.
Wallace was a retired Chief in the U.S. Coast Guard until his retirement in 1967. He then went on to work with the NC State Ferry Division, retiring in 1980. He was a longtime member of the Atlantic United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his two daughters, Audrey Willis and husband Johnny of Atlantic, NC and Bonnie Bruton of Graham, NC; one brother, Hubert Gaskill of Nashville, TN; two sisters, Peggy Smith of Fredricksburg, VA and Regina Gaskill of Lincolnton, TX; three grandchildren, Marty Willis (Ginny), Becky Brickhouse, Tamara Lester; three great-grandchildren, Mandy Willis, Bryson Willis, and Joni Gavetti and husband Brandon; and two great- great-grandchildren, Joseph and Jada Gavetti; also his beloved canine companion "Prissy".
He was preceded in death by his wife, Meriel Faye Gaskill; parents, Kenneth and Millicent Gaskill; and grandchild, Randy Brickhouse.
