Virginia “Ginny” Britt, 89, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.
A funeral service to honor Ginny’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, January 30th at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Brother Bob Lowery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. For those unable to attend, the service can be viewed through her obituary page on Munden Funeral Home’s website.
Ginny was born on November 23, 1936, in Chocowinity, NC, to the late Blake Nobles and Mable Dixon Brickhouse. She loved the Lord with all her heart and found great joy and comfort in going to church.
Ginny took immense pride in her home and was famously meticulous, cleaning wasn’t just a chore, it was a passion. Her house was always immaculate and welcoming. She also had a simple favorite treat, a Frosty from Wendy’s. Her daughter’s best friend Debbie made sure Ginny never went without one, a small kindness that meant the world to her.
In her younger years, Ginny loved going to horse shows and spending quiet time on trail rides. Ginny was also a devoted NASCAR fan and never missed a chance to cheer on her favorites.
More than anything, Ginny treasured time spent with the people she loved. She adored game nights with friends, cherished family gatherings, and was always her children’s and grandchildren’s loudest and proudest cheerleader at their sporting events. Her love, encouragement, and steady presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are her devoted husband of 48 years, Otho Clayton “OC” Britt Jr.; daughter, Cindy Ipock (Sterling) of Newport, NC: sons, Phil Asby (Aliceson) of McCormick, SC and Sanford Ipock Jr. (Nicolle) of Collierville, TN; grandchildren, Jason Asby, Jessica Asby, Amanda Gray, Jennifer Gray, Brittany Beaman, Kayla Asby, Abby Ipock and Cole Ipock; great-grandchildren, Carter Hamilton, Aaliyah Jackson, McKenna Hamilton, Jace Beaman, Stella Beaman, and Julie Beaman; and her best furry companion, Missy.
In addition to her parents, Ginny was preceded in death by her daughters, Melissa Ipock, Laraine Asby; and stepdaughter, Kerry Miller.
As an expression of sympathy, flowers are welcome.
