Violet Fulcher Swinson

Violet Fulcher Swinson, 94, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2023, at Cherry Point Bay in Havelock.

A funeral service to honor Violet’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, November 27^th at Parkview Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. John Carswell. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Violet was born on February 21, 1929, in Sea Level, NC, to the late Andrew and Vivian Fulcher. She was a devoted schoolteacher for over 29 years teaching the third grade. Touching many children’s lives in those years. A cherished member of her church family at Parkview Baptist since the 70’s. Violet found love and community within her home church.

Violet’s love for the water was evident in her joy of swimming in Styron Creek. She spent many hours clamming along the shore while soaking in the sun. Her other favorite pastime was taking leisurely walks in her garden, where she was most content. Violet’s palate was delighted by pole beans, shrimp burgers, and the savory taste of Smithfield’s hot dogs. She also enjoyed traveling and taking bus trips just for a change of scenery. Violet loved spending quality time with her beloved family. May her memory be a source of comfort to all who were fortunate to know her and love her.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her son, Jesse “Ray” Swinson Jr. of Morehead City, NC; daughter, Donna Davis of Morehead City, NC; sisters, Junie Carter of Waxhaw, NC, and Coleen Krupa of Sea Level, NC; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Violet was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Swinson Sr.; daughter, Janie Pittman; brothers, John “Jay” Fulcher, Wardie Fulcher, and Garland Fulcher; and sister, Sadie Hill.
