Versie Jacobs Morris,67, of Mill Creek, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Vidant Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Reece's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. James "Winkie" Chadwick and Rev. Bob Lowery officiating. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday at the Wetherington Family Cemetery in Cayton.
Mrs. Versie was a member of Reece's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Morris of the home; three daughters, Michelle Morris Riggs and husband Reginald , Elissa Morris Craft, and Rachel Morris all of Newport; two sons, Charles Purcell Morris and wife Shari, and Mack Thomas Morris both of Newport; four brothers, Vencen Locklear of New Bern, Anson Jacobs, Hamp Jacobs, and Tommy Jacobs all of Newport; two sisters, Pat Motes of Chesterfield, VA, and Lue Ann Jones of Texas; ten grandchildren, Trey Branche, CJ Morris, Becky Branche, Tyler Morris, Ryan Craft, Maddy Riggs, Beth Morris, Abbey Craft, Matthew Craft, and Bruce Craft; and one great-grandson, Tommy Branche.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Purcell and Susannah Jacobs; and a sister, Florene Lewis.
The family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 pm Friday at the church.
