Velma Colleen Krupa

Velma Colleen Fulcher Krupa, 90, of Sea Level, North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at ECU Health Medical Center.

A funeral service to honor Colleen’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 4th at Sea Level Missionary Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Terry McInnis. Interment will follow at Styron’s Creek Cemetery in Sea Level. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Colleen was born on July 18, 1935, in the family home on Styron’s Creek in Sea Level, NC. She was the eighth child of the late Andrew Thomas Fulcher and Vivian Lewis Fulcher. Colleen always cherished her early years with her family in Sea Level.

At the age of 18, Colleen met the love of her life, Sgt. Raymond Harold Krupa of the United States Marine Corps. They soon married and were blessed with three children, Sheri Noel, Vivian Eve, and Raymond Krupa Jr. After spending some time away, the family was pleased to move back home to Colleen’s beloved Sea Level.

Colleen dedicated 22 years of her life working as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Sea Level Hospital, demonstrating exceptional care and compassion for her patients. Following her retirement, she continued her nursing career in the Home Health field with a professional nursing service in Morehead City, providing vital support to numerous individuals and families until the age of 75.

A woman of many talents, Colleen expressed her creativity through painting and writing. She was intrigued by her family history and had a passion for tracing her genealogy. Colleen was also an avid gardener, but most of all, she loved the tradition of signing clams on the Outer Banks.

Colleen's greatest joy came from her family. She cherished her role as a mother and grandmother, taking immense pride in her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her daughter, Sheri Hayostek of Sea Level, NC; sister, June Carter of Monroe; grandsons, Gregory Salter (Nika), James Krupa, and Frank Christian; great-granddaughters, Savannah Salter, Alicen Salter, Jamie Krupa, and Sophia Christian; great-grandson, Ashton Christian; great-great-grandchildren, Noah Miller, Ollie Miller, Everett Hill, and Annie Hill; along with several step grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Colleen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond Harold Krupa Sr. on August 27, 2016; daughter, Vivian Pittman; son, Raymond Krupa Jr.; sisters, Sadie Hill and Violet Swinson; and brothers, Wardie Fulcher, Garland Fulcher, and John Fulcher.
