Toby Kent Guthrie, 65, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, June 12, 2026, at his home.

A memorial service to honor Toby’s life will be held at 4 p.m., Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Bob Lowery. A private interment will follow at Bayview Cemetery in Morehead City.

Toby was born on August 26, 1960, in Morehead City, North Carolina, to Toby Charles Guthrie and Joyce Guthrie. He was known for having a heart as big as they come and always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Toby loved to fish, spending many hours out on the water doing what brought him the most joy.

He was a friend to everyone he met and never knew a stranger. Toby was quite the jokester and loved making people laugh. His lightheartedness was a breath of fresh air. His life was more enriched by reading his Bible and using what he studied in his everyday life. Toby cherished his family and friends, and he will be deeply missed by all the lives he touched.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his mother, Joyce Guthrie of Morehead City, North Carolina; sister, Kimberly G. Hardin of Morehead City, North Carolina; and nephew, David Hardin.

Toby was preceded in death by his father, Toby Charles Guthrie; and his brother, Kelly Guthrie.
