Thomas Newton Hobbs, 78, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2025. He was born July 27, 1947, to the late Milton Ernest Hobbs, Jr. and Ethyleen Bryson Hobbs.

A graveside service for family and friends will be held at Montlawn Memorial Park, located at 2911 South Wilmington Street, Raleigh, NC on Tuesday, November 4th at 2:00 PM.

Tommy graduated from Needham Broughton High School in Raleigh before serving in the U.S. Army National Guard. His professional journey included roles at various esteemed companies such as IBM, Fort Howard Paper Company, and Alfred Williams and Company. He ultimately established his own successful venture, TN Hobbs and Associates. Following the sale of his company, Tommy relocated to Morehead City where his passion became deep-sea fishing.

He and his friends enjoyed many memorable moments on his yacht, Screwball VII, participating in the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament in Morehead City. Throughout his fishing endeavors, Thomas earned several prestigious awards, including the Governor's Cup in 1991 for Largest Wahoo and in 1992 for Largest Dolphin.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Susan Ward Hobbs, his sister, Sandra Ullal (Ashok), and numerous extended family members. He was preceded in death by his brother Milton Ernest Hobbs, III.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Carteret Health Care Hospice, P. O. Drawer 1619, Morehead City, NC 28557 in Thomas's memory.
