She taught school in Tarboro, NC and in Morehead City, NC at Parkview Baptist preschool, and at St. Egbert’s Catholic School where she taught second grade for 35 years.
She leaves behind a legacy of learning and love of education to the hundreds of students she taught during her career. She leaves an indelible love of learning to her granddaughter Elise because of the individual early childhood education lavished on her only grandchild.
Susan was a people person and had numerous friends, acquaintances, and her beloved church community. She loved nothing more than keeping up with her friends’ family news and stories, and spending time with her close friends. She also had a love of family genealogy and spent countless hours researching and creating files about ancestry.
Susan was a member of the First Methodist Church of Morehead City, NC since 1976. She was a member of the handbell choir (Bells of Praise) for 38 years. She taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible school and volunteered with the church preschool and daycare, where she loved to read to the children.
