Steve Brown Sr., 69, of Angier, NC, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at his home in Newport, NC.

Steve was born on May 27, 1957, in Greensboro, NC, to Edward and Carolyn Brown. He proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard for four years, a chapter of his life he carried with pride.

A man of many talents, Steve worked for himself as an electrician and was never afraid to tackle a new project or learn how to do something himself. He often joked that he was a “Jack of all trades, master of none,” but those who knew him knew that his particular nature and keen attention to detail were among his greatest strengths. He took pride in doing things right and could always be counted on to find a way to get the job done.

Steve was outgoing, friendly, and truly never met a stranger. His dry sense of humor had a way of keeping those around him laughing, and he had a unique ability to make people feel comfortable in his presence. He lived life on his own terms and marched to the beat of his own drum—quite literally. Music was an important part of his life. He loved playing the drums and even played in a couple of bands, giving him another way to share his personality and joy with others.

Above all, Steve treasured his family. He was a loving husband, devoted father, and proud “Paw Paw”, who absolutely adored his grandbabies. They brought a special kind of happiness to his life, and the memories they made together will remain close to the hearts of those who loved him.

Those remaining to cherish Steve’s memory are his loving wife of 17 years, Lori Brown; daughters, Trina Tevepaugh of Newport, NC, and Michelle Muskelly and husband Jay of Four Oaks, NC; mother, Carolyn Brown of Newport, NC; sister, Diane Bisesi of Newport, NC; grandchildren, Steven Brown, Christopher Brown, Leeanna Brown Castillo-Jauregui, Aden Brown, Logan Brown Kelly, Ava Muskelly, and Scarlett Muskelly; great-granddaughter, Zella Castillo-Jauregui; friend and former son-in-law, Steve Massita, father of Steven and Christopher; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Edward Jack Brown; brothers, John Franklin Brown and Edward Neil Brown Jr.; and son, Steven Dale Brown Jr.
