Samuel “Big Sammy” Guthrie, 62, of Newport, died Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Taylor Extended Care Facility.
The family will conduct a memorial service 2:00 pm Sunday at Salter Path United Methodist Church with Earl Boyd officiating.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Guthrie; daughter, Dana Avery and husband, Keith; sons, Little Sammy Guthrie, and Troy Guthrie and wife, Julie; and two grandsons, Vincent Troy “TJ” Guthrie, Jr., and Vincent Keith Avery, all of Newport.
He was preceded in death by his son, Vincent Kory Guthrie; parents, Edwin and Laura Smith Guthrie; and brother, Hugh Thomas Guthrie.
The family will receive friends after the service at the church.
