Cpl. Salem Blaze Nyari, USMC, 20, of North Tonawanda, NY, passed away unexpectedly in Jacksonville, NC, on November 18, 2023.

His funeral service, with military honors, will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Munden Funeral Home in Havelock, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

For those unable to attend, the service can be viewed through his obituary page. This will be available for viewing on Sunday, November 26th and will remain on the Funeral Home website for 90 days.

Salem was born on February 12, 2003, in Waterbury, CT to James and Jenipher Nyari. He was the youngest of three. He was raised in North Tonawanda, NY.

By the young age of five, after realizing he could not grow up to be Batman, Salem declared his intent to become a United States Marine. The next best thing, he decided. During his elementary years, he joined the Young Marines, which he remained deeply involved in and dedicated to until his retirement from the program. Upon entering high school, Salem elected to attend Western New York Maritime Charter, a Navy JROTC school. He excelled in numerous leadership positions and extracurriculars. Immediately following his seventeenth birthday, Salem enlisted in the USMC. Upon graduating high school in 2020, he began enthusiastically counting down the days until boot camp.

Salem served with tremendous pride and distinction in the Communication field at MCAS Cherry Point (NC).

In addition to his military service, Salem was a beloved son, brother, friend, and colleague.

Those left to keep his memory alive are his parents, James and Jenipher Nyari of North Tonawanda, NY; brother, LCpl Audie Nyari of MCAS Cherry Point (NC); sister, Valkris Nyari of North Tonawanda, NY; and the countless mentors who influenced his life.

Salem will be remembered for his devotion, humor, intellect, and unmatched individuality. He *INDUBITABLY* left an impact on those fortunate enough to be part of his life.
