Ryan Garner Butt, 65, of Beaufort, North Carolina, passed away at his home on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.

Ryan was born on October 5, 1961, in Frederick, Maryland, to the late Ramond and Jacquelyn Butt.

A proud Marine for life, Ryan was also one of Carteret County’s preeminent real estate appraisers, dedicating 44 years to his profession. He took great pride in caring for and preserving the beauty of his beloved neighborhood, The Oaks. Ryan had a deep passion for history and a genuine appreciation for the places and people that shaped his life.

Above all, Ryan was a devoted family man who cherished his loved ones and took particular joy in being a grandfather.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Karanne Elizabeth Potter; sons, Aaron Garner Butt (Carrie Clay) of Newport, NC, Bryan Daniel Butt (Angelica Garner) of Havelock, NC, and James Anthony Robinson of Asheville, NC; and grandchildren, Liam Garner Butt, Sean Isaiah Butt, Ella Lee Hamilton, Thomas Daniel Hamilton, Sophia Rose MacPherson, and Liam Anthony MacPherson.
