Ruth Volk Gaddess

Ruth Volk Gaddess, 99, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 12, 2025, at Carteret Landing in Morehead City.

Ruth was born on February 27, 1926, to the late Frank and Elizabeth Volk. Born in Englewood, New Jersey, she spent her early years in Tenafly, New Jersey. Ruth had a fulfilling career as a drafter with Gibbs & Cox, a renowned American naval architecture firm.

Ruth and her husband, Clifford, moved to North Carolina in the 1970’s. They built a home and embraced the charm of Southern living, often remarking on the great climate and relaxed pace of life that contrasted with their experiences in New Jersey and New York.

She is survived by her sister, Mable Brohm, along with numerous loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband who passed away in 2015, Clifford Gaddess, along with her sisters, Suzanne Coyle and Alice Berg.
