Russell Jay Roy, 70, of Havelock, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at ECU Health Medical Center.

Russell was born on March 19, 1956, in Holyoke, Massachusetts, to Donald and Barbara Roy. He was one of seven children and grew up surrounded by the love and companionship of his large family. During his younger years, Russell especially enjoyed camping and spending time outdoors, creating memories that stayed with him throughout his life.

Russell spent much of his life in Cranston, Rhode Island, where he worked for the Bulova Watch Company. In the early 2000s, he made North Carolina his home and began working in the tile business.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his father, Donald Roy; sisters, Cheryll Jean and Susan Ritchie; brothers, Dwayne Roy, Raymond Roy, Donald Roy and Steve Roy; companion, Theresa “Terri” McCormick; and numerous nieces and nephews and extended families.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Roy.
