Rosalie "Mama Lee" Colwell

Rosalie “Mama Lee” Colwell, 84, of Havelock, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at Carolina East Medical Center.

Her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Munden Funeral Home in Havelock officiated by Deacon Jim Strange. Interment will follow at Forest Oaks Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Rosalie was born on February 11, 1939, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Robert and Rosalie Milentz. She grew up in St. Louis graduating from high school there and joined the U.S. Marine Corps, serving 2 years. Rosalie met the love of her life “Smokey” and they have been happily married for over 64 years. They both settled in Havelock back in 1967.

Rosalie was active in her local community, giving of her time selflessly to the local Havelock food bank. She was a past member of Annunciation Catholic Church. Rosalie worked on base as an assistant manager at B.L.K. Cherry Point, retiring after over 30 years. She was a member of the local VFW Post 7315 and was a past president of the Auxiliary and M.O.C.A. past president. Rosalie continued her activities as a Women’s Marine Association member and the Women’s Veterans of Coastal Carolina organization. Her legacy of service and compassion will forever be remembered by those she touched. May she rest in eternal peace.

Those left to treasure her memory are her loving husband R.H. “Smokey” Colwell Jr. of the home; son, Thomas A. Colwell and daughter-in-law, Kerrie Colwell of Emerald Isle, NC; along with four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
