Roger Lee Hammond, 79, of Morehead City, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2016 at Crystal Bluffs.

Roger was born, raised and spent most of his life in Kentucky. Honorably served in the US Army. He was a long time welder in the mining industry. At one point he owned an airplane and enjoyed tinkering in his home workshop. Roger enjoyed lively conversation and arguing with anyone that would take the other side.
He is survived by his one daughter, Su-Lin Banks and husband Joe of Newport; two sons, Mark Hammond of Fairborn, OH and Ronnie Hammond of Locust Grove, GA; three grandchildren, Allegra, Chelsea and Myrena.
He was preceded in death by his wife, of almost 40 years, Pramual “Toy “ Hammond; parents, two brothers, Bill Hammond and Wilgus “Wig” Hammond; one sister, Doris Stevens.
