Robert Arnold Salter Sr., 75, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, May 10, 2025.
A funeral service to honor Robert’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 14th at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Daniel Trott, Rev. James Chadwick and Rev. Patrick Whaley. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 13th at Munden Funeral Home. For those unable to attend, the service can be viewed through his obituary page on Munden Funeral Home’s website. The service will remain on the Funeral Home website for 90 days.
Robert was born and raised in Salter Path, to the late Dewitt and Doris Salter. He lived a life rooted in hard work and devotion. Robert spent much of his life on the water as a proud commercial fisherman and worked as a skilled carpenter. A pillar of strength and support, Robert was the heart of the family. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and a very special grandfather to his cherished grandsons. His warmth, steady presence, and quiet wisdom will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Sheila Bruce Salter of the home; sons, Romie Salter (Cheryl) of Salter Path, Robbie Salter (Lindsay) of Cedar Point; sister, Sue Frost (Marty) of Salter Path; grandsons, Connor Salter of Salter Path, Parker and Jase Salter of Cedar Point; nieces, Dwana Desantis (Tod), Debbie Willis (Johnnie), Tiffany Jewel (Jesse), Amanda Trott (Daniel), nephews, Jamye Frost, Andy Salter Jr.; great nieces and nephews, Dylan Trott, Hunter Trott, Cassie Desantis, Casius Jewel, and Cove Desantis.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his brothers, Gene Salter and Andy Salter; sisters-in-law, Jenny Salter and Linda Salter; mother-in-law, Alene Grantham; brother-in-law, Robert Bruce; and sister-in-law, Tina Bruce.
Proverbs 3:5, 6 states: “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
