Robert "Bobby" Gary Rice

Robert "Bobby" Gary Rice, 66, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2025, at Carteret Health Care.

Born on December 8, 1958, in High Point, North Carolina, Bobby was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, where he honed his remarkable mechanical skills. Known for his hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities, he had an exceptional talent for understanding and working with machines and mechanical systems. These talents not only served him well during his military service but also as the proud owner of the Newport BP Station, where he was known for his friendly demeanor and commitment to his customers.

Bobby had a profound love for the water, frequently indulging in fishing and travel. He was also an avid supporter of the Coastal Conservation Association (CCA), reflecting his passion for preserving the natural environment.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his wife, Helen Thornton Rice; sons, Robert Jacob Rice (Meghan Baker) of Gig Harbor, WA, Bradford Gary Rice (Karen) of Jacksonville, FL, Clifton Thornton Rice of Morehead City, NC, and Stanton Grant Rice of Kake, AK; mother, Barbara Parker Rice of High Point, NC; brother, Kerry Rice (Cindy) of High Point, NC; grandchildren, Addison and Willa; an many loving pets.

Bobby was preceded in death by his father, Robert Theodore Rice.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bobby’s memory to Wounded Warriors, the CCA - Coastal Conservation Association, or the Boys & Girls Club of Morehead City.
