Critcher, USMC (Retired)

Munden Funeral Home & Crematory
10:00 am - 1:00 pm (Eastern time)
The family of Master Gunnery Sergeant Robert Critcher, USMC (Retired) is deeply saddened to announce his passing on April 7, 2026, at the age of 73. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, Rob lived a life defined by loyalty, resilience, and unwavering love for those around him.
A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Robert’s life will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 1, at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City. Military honors will be rendered at 12:00 p.m. The family warmly invites all who knew and loved him to join them for a time of fellowship, food, and shared memories.
Born to Budd and Darlene Critcher, Rob grew up across the western states, where wide-open landscapes helped shape his love for the outdoors and his appreciation for hard work and determination.
Rob proudly served his country as a United States Marine for 27 years and 6 months, a career marked by honor, discipline, and steadfast commitment. His service left an enduring impact on all who served beside him, and his pride in the Marine Corps remained a defining part of his identity throughout his life.
His passions were as wide and genuine as his heart. He loved fishing, hunting, working on cars, NASCAR, skeet shooting, rodeoing, particularly bull riding, traveling to the mountains, and—above all—spending time with his family and friends. His presence brought steadiness, humor, and warmth to every gathering, and his absence will be felt deeply by all who knew him.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 54 years, Nancy, and his daughters, Jenny of Holly Springs, NC, and Jessica and her husband, Devin Vitt, of Barksdale AF, LA. He is also survived by his grandson, Justin and his wife, Kelli Armwood, of Kannapolis, NC; his mother, Darlene Williams; and his sisters, Debbie (Kim) Clair, Tina (Layne) Mouritsen, Belinda (Tim) Provancher, Chris Cameron, Sherri (Joe) Hajos, and Niki Wolverton; along with many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Rob was preceded in death by his father, Budd, and his grandparents.
In honor of Rob’s life and faithful service, flowers and plants are appreciated. The family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation at https://www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org in tribute to his strength, courage, and enduring Marine spirit.
Family and friends are welcome to submit online condolences at www.mundenfuneralhome.net.
