Robert “Bob” Ausherman, 86, of Havelock, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at Carteret Health Care.

A memorial service, with military honors, will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, November 2nd at First Baptist Church in Havelock, officiated by Pastor Matthew Long.

Bob was born on February 15, 1937, in Frederick, Maryland, to the late Clarence and Margaret Ausherman. He had a passion for soccer which began in his high school years where he excelled as a talented player.

Following his graduation, Bob bravely answered the call of duty and joined the United States Marine Corps. Serving with distinction, Bob completed a tour of duty in Vietnam and rose through the ranks to retire as a Gunnery Sergeant, proudly dedicating 20 years of his life to the Marine Corps.

After his military service, Bob embarked on a new chapter in his life, working in the Facilities Maintenance Department of Cherry Point. For 30 years, he brought his tireless work ethic and expertise to his role, becoming an invaluable member of the team.

Bob's devotion extended beyond his professional life. He was an active and faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Havelock. Bob selflessly participated in the Baptist Men’s Disaster Relief, lending a helping hand to those in need during times of crisis. Bob's impact also touched the lives of numerous children through his involvement with Youth Groups, providing guidance, support, and friendship to those who needed it most. Bob also contributed his time to the A.B.A Fair Ministry. Through this ministry, he selflessly dedicated his time and energy to help clothe and feed the hardworking employees of various fairs, demonstrating his compassionate nature and desire to improve the lives of others.

On March 23, 1988, Bob married his beloved wife, Connie. They celebrated 35 years together and enjoyed every moment of their life’s journey. Bob will be dearly missed by his wife and the many family members and friends whose lives he touched. His memory will forever be cherished and his legacy of selflessness, dedication, and service to others will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Connie Ausherman; daughter, Heather Patel (Kyle Owens) of California; sons, Thomas Daniel Ausherman (Beth), Mark Alan Ausherman (Ajel), all of Florida, and Ray Lingle (Brian Green) of Vermont; sisters, Kathy Ann Ausherman and Bonnie Cregger (Larry), all of Maryland; and 4 precious grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Ausherman Sr.
