Obituary

Robbie Dale Hall, 72, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away at his home on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.

A Celebration of Life to honor Robbie's life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 31, at Munden Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Robbie was born on January 22, 1954, in Beaufort, NC. He was a beautiful soul, both inside and out. He loved his family more than words could ever express and carried himself with grace in everything he did.

He had a deep love for the ocean and found peace in God's creation. Robbie was an exceptional athlete who seemed to excel at every sport he pursued. Surfing was his greatest passion, and he cherished the friendships and community that came with it. Throughout Carteret County, he was regarded by many as a local surfing legend, earning numerous victories in surfing competitions along the East Coast. He was a gifted mentor who generously shared his knowledge, encouraged fellow surfers, and inspired others to improve their skills. Although he was unable to surf during the last few years of his life, he never lost his love for the sport or the ocean.

A true jack of all trades, Robbie was also highly skilled in carpentry and commercial fishing. He loved gardening and took great pride in watching his garden grow. He mastered gardening with the same dedication and patience that made him such an accomplished surfer.

Above all, he will be remembered for his generosity, wisdom, humility, and unwavering willingness to lend a helping hand. Anyone who knew Robbie knew how kind and welcoming he was. He could strike up an hour-long conversation with just about anyone and always made people feel like friends. He loved his family, his faith, and his lifelong home of Carteret County.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 45 years, Kimberly Hill Hall; sons, Jeremy Dale Hall, of Havelock, NC and Zachary Taylor Hall, of Newport, NC; granddaughters, Kaydence Lee Hall and Taylor Nicole Hall, both of Newport, NC; sisters, Crystal Hesmer, of Atlantic Beach, NC, Gail Thompson, of Havelock, NC, and Kay Widham, of Clayton, NC: along with numerous beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Robbie was preceded in death by his father, Chuck Hall; mother, Verona Lee Hall; stepmother, Jo Hall; grandmother, Fannie Hall; brother, Reggie Hall; sister-in-law, Diane Hall; and sister, Donna Sue Weeks.
