Ricky "Slick Rick" Allen Moore Sr.

Ricky "Slick Rick" Allen Moore Sr., 65, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Carteret Health Care.

A memorial service to honor Ricky’s life will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday, June 26th at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Marty Welch. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Ricky was born on September 11, 1959, to the late Vernon and Judith Moore. Born and raised on Harkers Island, he embraced the salt life as a commercial fisherman, he loved working the water and spent his career shrimping. Ricky’s strong work ethic was a defining characteristic that he carried throughout his life.

If you knew Ricky, you knew that he was the life of the party. He had a gift for storytelling and always found a way to entertain and give everyone a good laugh. Ricky was also a kind and generous man who never hesitated to help anyone in need.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his sons, Ricky Moore Jr. and Jonathan Moore (Erin Garner), all of Newport; and grandchildren, Levi Kade Moore, Lilly Rain Moore, Emily Grace Moore, and John Wilton Moore.

In addition to his parents, Ricky was preceded in death by his sisters, Verna Joyce Moore and Alma “Susie” Moore.
