Richard Wayne See

August 27, 1941 — September 12, 2025

Morehead City

Richard Wayne See, 84, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Carteret Health Care.

A funeral service to honor Wayne’s life will be held at 12 p.m., Monday, September 15th at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Noah Johnson. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Wayne was born on August 27, 1941, in Harrisonburg, Virginia. After graduating from Broadway High School, he went on to serve his country as a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

Wayne began his professional journey by opening Wayne’s 76 Service Station in Morehead City. He later began a new chapter of his life when he started Wayne’s Construction Company where his hard work and dedication are reflected in the many subdivisions he built across Carteret and Craven Counties.

A passionate outdoorsman, Wayne was a founding member and past president of the Back Creek Hunting Club and served on the Board of the Wildwood Volunteer Fire Department.

Wayne is well remembered for his fondness for chewing tobacco. Hunting, running his dogs and field trials were his second love behind his wife, whom he cherished all of his days. His kids and grandkids were the light of his life. All of his friends will remember him for his great sense of humor and antics.

In his later years, Wayne shared his love with everyone through kisses and calling everyone his “sweetheart”. The family is eternally grateful for the care he received from Patrice, Mary, Deelicia, Star, CoCo, Jennifer, Jessica, Janie, Felicia and he loved his daily rides with Mr. Danny.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Sharon Lane Anthony See; daughter, Bridget Dione See Scanlan (Eric) of Wilmington, NC; son, Richard “Richie” Wayne See Jr. of Morehead City, NC; and grandchildren, Hunter See, Jake Scanlan, and Maddie Scanlan.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 North Michigan Avenue, 17th Floor, Chicago, IL 60601.

Family and friends are welcome to submit online condolences at www.mundenfuneralhome.net.
