Raymond Jackson Lewis Jr. “Buddy Raymond”, 78, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Carteret Health Care.

Services to honor Raymond’s life will be announced at a later date.

Raymond was born on November 22, 1947, to the late Raymond Jackson Lewis Sr. and Janice Arrington Robinson Lewis. Born and raised in Morehead City, NC, he grew up in “The Promise Land” community.

Raymond had a deep love for the open sky and earned his private pilot’s license many years ago, fulfilling a lifelong passion for flying. He also enjoyed reading and was a devoted history buff, always eager to learn and share stories of the past. Raymond thoroughly enjoyed boating and spending time on the water embracing the coastal life that shaped him.

Above all, Raymond cherished his family. They meant everything to him, and he treasured every moment spent together.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Jean Patton Lewis; daughters, Jennifer Lewis and Mirah J. Lewis, both of Newport, NC; son, Michael P. Lewis of Newport, NC; and numerous loving nieces, nephews, extended family and special friends.

In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by his sisters, Susan Carol Lewis and Janice Ray Lewis Ditto; and brother, Jerry Thomas Lewis.
