Preston "Tony" H. Johnson

Capt. Preston “Tony” Howard Johnson, 75, of Beaufort, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Pruitt Health Care in Sea Level.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Carteret Memorial Gardens with Pastor Brian Recker officiating.

He was born and raised in Carteret County. He honorably served in the U.S. Army, including a tour of duty in Vietnam. He retired from the Army Corps of Engineers as a Hydro Surveyor. In his free time he loved being on the water, trout fishing and hunting. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his son, Alex Johnson and wife Anna of Beaufort; grandchildren, Mikayla, Haley, Christian, Draven, and Landon; great-grandson, Xander; and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sterling and Lovie Mason Johnson; sisters, Hazel Allison, Mildred Smith, and Cecelia “Frances” Osborne; and brothers, Sterling Johnson, Jr. and Frank Johnson.
