Peggy Willis McQueen, 79, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 10, 2026, at her home in Camp Morehead. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

A memorial service to honor Peggy’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 19th at First Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Nate Leonard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Peggy will be laid to rest privately at Bayview Cemetery.

Peggy was born on July 12, 1946, and is now reunited in heaven with her beloved parents, Reginald Willis and Thelma Dickenson Willis, and her brother, Robert "Bob" Willis. She was a proud graduate of Morehead City High School, Class of 1964, where she fondly recalled her days as a majorette.

Peggy dedicated much of her life to caring for others as a registered nurse. She worked for many physicians in the Morehead City area and was affectionately known as "Nurse Peggy" at Camp Morehead, where she served as the camp nurse throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Her compassion, kindness, and steady presence touched countless lives.

In her personal life, Peggy was blessed with a devoted partner, Bryant Thompson, who stood by her side for many years. Together they shared a love of tennis, attending sporting events, and enjoying quiet moments together, whether on a drive or watching a favorite show.

Peggy is survived by her daughter, Dana Leigh McQueen (Craig Souza) of Beaufort, North Carolina; her son, Brad McQueen (Colleen Ball) of Charleston, South Carolina; and her cherished grandchildren, Ben and Smith Anne McQueen of Charleston, South Carolina.

She will always be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother-"Mom" and "Gigi"-whose warmth, strength, and care will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
