Patricia "Patti" O'Rorke

Patricia “Patti” O'Rorke, 61, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023, at her home.

Patricia was born on January 20, 1962, in Madison, Wisconsin, to the late Carl Zundel Sr. and Joann Hendricks. Extremely family-oriented, Patricia focused on quality time with her loved ones. She loved card games, spending many happy hours together playing Uno in her younger years with family and friends. Later in life, she enjoyed the challenge and fast pace of Free Cell.

Patricia was an amazing cook who loved being in the kitchen making delicious meals for her loved ones. Her most famous dish was her great lasagna as well as her yummy mac and cheese, and of course, we can’t forget the wonderful cookies she made. A relaxing evening for Patricia always included a tasty glass of wine, which she absolutely loved.

Always interested in what was going on around her, she faithfully listened to the police scanner. If something was going on you could be sure she’d know what it was. An avid lover of all animals, Patricia had a special place in her heart for dogs. Patricia’s beauty was reflected in the flowers she planted around her home. They brightened her day and always put a smile on her face. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her husband, Thomas O’Rorke; daughter, Rebecca O’Rorke (Morgan) of Morehead City, NC; son, John Bruder of Newport, NC; sisters, Lisa Andreola (Anthony) of Cape Carteret, NC and Bonnie Lako (John) of Hayes, VA; brothers, Carl Zundel II (Lisa) of Newport, NC and Charles Zundel of Edison, NJ; stepsister, Wendy Quinones; stepbrother, Charley Weingart Jr.; grandchildren, Lexie Wahle, Emery Wahle and Amara Wahle; and multiple beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Patti was preceded in death by her daughter, Shannon Rose O’Rorke.
