Mrs. Patricia “Pat” Matthews Burnette, 86, of Beaufort, NC, formerly of Greenville, NC, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2025.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Born in Kipling, NC on October 19, 1938, Pat was the daughter of the late Mae Senter Matthews and Cyrus Myron Matthews. Pat was employed by the Greenville-Pitt County Chamber of Commerce for twenty-nine years serving as Vice President. Pat was a current member of First Methodist Church in Morehead City, past member of St. James United Methodist Church in Greenville and attended Emma Anderson Memorial Chapel at Topsail Beach during summer months.

Pat will be fondly remembered for her love of her family and friends. She was affectionately known as “Gammie” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her favorite pastime was spending time with friends and family in Beaufort, Greenville, Key West and Topsail Beach. Pat loved to read, shop, travel, dine with friends and play games. She especially loved being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Pat is survived by her two daughters, Debbie Carr and husband Lee, of Beaufort, and Jean Ann Woodard and husband Rick, of Topsail Beach. In addition, Pat is survived by four grandchildren, Carver Wilson and husband Christopher, Patrick Woodard and wife Laura, Cameron Thornton and husband Caleb, and Tyler Barnhill and husband Taylor. She was blessed with ten greatgrandchildren whom she absolutely adored, Charlie, Griffin and Cooper Wilson, Palmer, CharlesAnna and David Woodard, Eliza Carr and Sadie Thornton, and Scottie and Grady Barnhill. Pat is also survived by her nephews, Douglas and David Matthews.

In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her beloved husband of sixty-one years, Charles Daniel Burnette, Jr., her brothers, James Myron Matthews and Charles David Matthews, and sister, Jean Matthews Mitchell.
