Nova (Rose) Smith

Nova Smith, 85, of Jacksonville, formerly of Gloucester, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Onslow Memorial Hospital.

Her funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Lighthouse Chapel with Rev. Ricky Rose and Rev. Dan Parker officiating. Interment will follow at Vergie Mae Cemetery.

She worked as a CNA and a mentor for many years, and a member of Lighthouse Chapel for many years.

She is survived by her daughters, Pamela Flowers and husband Bob of Jacksonville; Mary Glover and husband Douglas of Boston, MA, and Pat DeSousa and husband Manuel of Newport; son, Frankie DeVincent and wife Mary of Boston, MA; sisters, Louise Golden of Straits, Sidney Richardson of Otway, and Betty Jean Gillikin of Otway; grandchildren, Brandon Flowers, Jarrod DeVincent, Brenden DeVincent, Kayla DeVincent, Melissa Fernandez and husband Joseph, Sharon DeSousa and Patrick DeSousa and wife Kate; also great-grandchildren, Avery Flowers and Shyann Flowers.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 25 years, Henry Glenn Smith; brothers, Cranston “Doc” Rose and Tommy Rose; sisters, Melba Mae Sgambelluri and Annie Willis; and grandson, Tony DeSousa.

The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 pm Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Munden Funeral Home.
