Norberto Torres Vega

Norberto Torres Vega, 91, of New Bern, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, January 5, 2026.

Norberto’s memorial service will be held at 4 p,m,, Sunday, January 11th at Agua Viva Church in Havelock.

Norberto was born on February 9, 1934, in Puerto Rico to the late Domingo Torres Ferrer and Inez Vega Melendez. A devoted family man, Norberto cared deeply for his family and took great pride in always being there for them. He was happiest when spending time with loved ones, offering a helping hand, or working on a project around the house. There was rarely a time when he wasn’t fixing, building, or improving something- his handy skills were well known.

Norberto loved sports, especially boxing. He loved cheering on his favorite New York teams. He also enjoyed fishing, which was relaxing for him. May Norberto be remembered as a hardworking man with a generous heart and a love for his family that was unmatched.

Those left to treasure his memory are his daughter, Ilia Vasquez; stepdaughter, Linda Ramos; stepsons, Arthur Colon, Miguel Colon Jr.; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
