Myron Ann “Nan” Smith, 79, of Atlantic, North Carolina, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Carteret Landing.
A funeral service to honor her life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Atlantic Missionary Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Steve Stephenson, Rev. Michael Fields, and Rev. Terry McInnis. Interment will follow at Atlantic Community Cemetery. Following the interment, the family will receive friends at Wild Will’s Revenge in Atlantic.
Myron Ann was the firstborn child of Billy and Janice Smith of Atlantic, born at the old Morehead City Hospital on October 9, 1946. Her family and her life were centered around the family’s seafood business and the community. She was a lifetime member of the Atlantic Missionary Baptist Church and a graduate of the Class of 1965, the last class to graduate from Atlantic High School.
She graduated from East Carolina University, which led to a career in education. She taught school and later worked with the State of North Carolina, supporting statewide daycare programs. She lived in Raleigh for many years.
Myron Ann is survived by her brother, Dean Smith (Donna) of Atlantic, NC; her nieces, Leslie Smith Daniels (Sheldon) of Bettie, NC, Kathryn Smith Chadwick (Chris) of Stacy, NC, and Kimberly Smith LeMay (Charles) of Atlantic, NC; her nephews, Charles Smith (Greg) of New Bern, NC and William Smith of Atlantic, NC; great-nephew, Taylor Daniels (Davison) Bettie, NC and William Chadwick of Stacy, NC; great-nieces, Emily LeMay of Atlantic, NC, Catherine Daniels LeMay (CJ) of Bettie, NC, and Larrington Chadwick of Stacy, NC; great-great nephew, Sullivan “Sully” Daniels of Bettie, NC; sister-in-law, Tweedles Harkey of Stacy, NC; and special family friend, Jerry Willis of Atlantic, NC.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Billy and Janice Smith; brother, William Ellis Smith Jr.; and nephew-in-law, Kevin Daniels.
