Monroe Garner
October 31, 1944 — February 12, 2010
Charles Monroe Garner, Jr., 65, of Newport, died Friday, February 12, 2010, at Carolina East Medical Center.
Mr. Garner served in the U.S. Army for 43 years and was a member of the Newport Masonic Lodge #706.
Services will be held 10:00 am Wednesday at Munden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kevin Club officiating. Interment will follow at Amariah Garner Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Annette Garner of Charlotte; father, Charles Monroe Garner, Sr. of Newport; two sisters, Cherry Garner Ragan and husband Randy and Charlene Garner Stoops and husband Bob all of Newport; four grandchildren and and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie E. Garner and son, Charles Monroe Garner, III.
The family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
