Obituary

Milford Lee Simmons, 95, formerly of Morehead City, NC, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 7, 2026, at Transitions Life Care in Raleigh, NC.

A funeral service to honor Milford’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, September 15th at Parkview Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. John Carswell. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Gethsemane. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. For those unable to attend, the service can be viewed through his obituary page on Munden Funeral Home’s website.

Milford was born on April 11, 1931, in Clinton, NC, to the late David and Lou Pearl Simmons. He proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, he began a fulfilling 37-year career with Sprint, where he worked as a customer service manager. He took great pride in his work and in the many people he had the opportunity to serve and work alongside.

His faith was an important part of his life, and Milford loved the Lord dearly. He enjoyed reading the Word of God and was an active member of his church, always willing to volunteer and serve others, including serving as a deacon. He was a devoted member of Parkview Baptist Church, before relocating to the Raleigh area in his later years where he became a member of Woodland Baptist Church of Wake Forest. Milford was also a member of Woodmen of the World, where he enjoyed giving back to his community through volunteer work.

Outside of work and church, Milford enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved being outdoors, especially spending time working in his garden. He had a special love for his Beagles and enjoyed traveling when he had the opportunity.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Regenia Brown Simmons; daughter, Cathy Ann Brinkman (Marty) of Wake Forest, NC; and son, Craig Lee Simmons (Joanne) of Lusby, MD. Along with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, they include Jacquline Hawkins (Eric Marvin) and daughters, Emma and Savannah; Amanda Allen and children, Lillian, Connor, Jensen, and Vincent; Brandon Simmons (Brittney); Emily Kristine Brinkman; Angelina Raum (Joshua) and children, Sylis and Shayne; William “Brady” Simmons (Katie Ishtee) and daughter, Isabella; and Zachary Lee Brinkman.

In addition to his parents, Milford was preceded in death by his sister, Rachel Simmons Carter and brother, Weldon A. Simmons.
