Michael Edward Turcotte passed away on August 14, 2023 at the age of 54 in New Bern, North Carolina.

Michael will be interred with full military honors on September 1, 2023, at 10 a.m. at the Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi, MS. His visitation will be from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Friday, August 18th, at Munden Funeral Home in Havelock.

Michael was born on September 6, 1968 at the Davisville Naval Hospital in North Kingstown, Rhode Island to parents Mary-Ellen Grenier Rosekrans and Martin A. Turcotte. After high school, Michael joined the United States Marine Corps and retired as a Gunnery Sergeant after 20 years of distinguished service.

While in the Marine Corps, Michael served as a Field Radio Operator, a Surveillance Sensor Operator, and an Expeditionary Airfield Systems Technician.  He served three tours in Iraq, one tour in Afghanistan, one tour in Kosovo and one tour in Hungary where he participated in Operation Desert Shield, Operation Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Joint Forge, and Operation Joint Guardian. Michael earned the following military decorations, awards and commendations: 6 Good Conduct Medals, Combat Action Ribbon, 6 Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, 3 Southwest Asia Service Medals, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, 2 National Defense Medals, Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait), NATO Medal, Kosovo Campaign Medal, NATO Medal-ISAF Afghanistan, Armed Forces Service Medal,  3 Navy Unit Commendation Medals, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Presidential Unit Citation-Navy, 4 Meritorious Masts, Certificate of Commendation (Individual Award), Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, Pistol Expert Badge and the Parachutist Badge.

Michael was an avid reader and always had his head in a book/kindle. He loved watching anime and playing video games with his daughter, Faith who was the light of his life. When he was able to spend time with her, they loved going to IHop to eat crepes and going to the beach and collecting seashells. Michael had a love for cars, especially his O-D Green Scat pack that he would never let anyone drive. He had a love for playing guitars and amassed quite a collection. Michael also loved collecting coins and precious metals.

Michael is survived by his daughter, Faith Elizabeth Turcotte of Fairmont, WV, and his step-daughter Senior Airman Kaitlyn Eppenbaugh of Tampa, FL. His mother Mary-Ellen and her husband and Michael’s step-father, Fred Rosekrans of Havelock, NC. His sister Michelle and her husband Randy Hammond of Wiggins, MS. His sister Danielle Turcotte of Gautier, MS. His brother Jody Resch and his wife Kristen of Linwood, NJ. His sister Gina Luna and her husband Jose of Warwick, Bermuda. His aunt Patricia Damn of Barnegat, NJ, and his uncle Jeffrey Grenier and his wife Kay of Rio Rancho, New Mexico. His cousins John Turcotte, Jr of Rahway, NJ, Monique Tubbs of Milton, PA, Stephanie Grenier of Oak Harbor, OH, and Brandon Grenier and Brett Grenier of Deadwood, SD. His Nieces Lindsey Barnes her husband Tim and their daughter Lilah of Ocean Springs, MS, Caytlyn Doucet and her husband Sean of Hermitage, TN, Gwen Resch of Linwood, NJ, Karee Luna of Warwick, Bermuda, and Amalia Luna of New York, NY, Nephews Adam Hammond of Wiggins, MS and his son Jacob, Justin Hammond of Wiggins, MS, Duston Hinson of Cookeville, TN and Cullen Resch of Galloway, NJ. He was preceded in death by his father Martin A. Turcotte, his grandparents Rheo and Anna Turcotte and Mary Grenier, his uncle and his aunt John and Eileen Turcotte, and uncle Stephen Grenier.
