A funeral service to honor Michael’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, February 26 at First Baptist Church in Davis, officiated by Rev. Chuck Houston. Michael was born on April 29, 1952, in Greenwich, Connecticut, to the late Charles and Mary Hotaling. He was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Davis for many years, where he loved his church family deeply and lived out his faith daily. Michael was a godly man whose life reflected his kindness, and unwavering devotion to the Lord.
He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps for four years. Following his military service, he dedicated much of his life to serving his community as an active-duty firefighter, giving his time to both the Otway and Davis Fire Departments. Michael retired from his civil service after 30 years of faithful work.
Michael loved the outdoors, whether he was fishing, hunting, or spending time with his beloved family. He had a special gift for uplifting others with his warm spirit and quick wit. May Michael’s memory live on in all the lives he touched and the love he so freely gave.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 32 years, Bonnie Fulcher Hotaling of the home; son, Donald Copeland Jr. (Erica) of Newport, N.C.; brother, Charles T. Hotaling (Debbie) of Charlotte, N.C.; 4 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his precious pup, Lyla.
