Melvin Cornell Long Jr., 59, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away at his home on Saturday, May 16, 2026.

Melvin was born on March 2, 1967, in Carteret County, NC. He proudly served in the United States Coast Guard and later worked in construction in the boating industry.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his fiancée, Carol Mischelle Spencer; daughter, Tara Long; and half-brother, Timothy Shaun Long and wife Emily.

Melvin was preceded in death by his father, Melvin “Mel” Cornell Long Sr.
