Melissa Rice Brameyer

Melissa Rice Brameyer, 56, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024, at Duke University Hospital in Durham. 

A memorial service to honor Melissa’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, September 27th at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Dennis Evans. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Melissa, known by those who loved her as Momma, Aunt Sissa, and Sissy, was born on February 27, 1968, in Morehead City, NC. 

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her children, Abbigail Hauser (Matthew Hauser) of Newport, Eryn Delange (Taylor Pridgen) of Havelock, and Ian Brameyer (Anylu Garcia) of Newport; parents, Robert Lee Rice, Jr. (Kay Rice) of Newport and Belinda Gail Thompson (Mark Thompson) of Havelock; brothers, Robert Lee Rice III (Ann Rice) of Newport, Franklin Rice of Newport, Alan Barts (Shelly Barts) of Newport, and Chris Rice of Newport; grandchild, Ayden Lee Hauser; nieces and nephews, Amanda Cowart (Myk Cowart), Victoria McCombs (Michael McCombs), Brittany Rice, Neal Rice (Tyller Rice), Kody Rice (Melissa Voigt), Ally Rice (Ronni Davis), Robert Rice IV, Mckenzie Barbour, Addison Barts, Liam Barts, Camdyn Barts, Ainsley Barts, and Turner Barts; beloved childhood best friends, Angela Henderson of Raleigh, Kim Shipp Padgett of Wilmington, and Sandy Purifoy Maschmeyer of Steger, Illinois; and beloved pets, Busy Bee and Blue.

Melissa was greeted in Heaven by Granddaddy Robert Lee Rice, Sr., Grandmomma Hyacinth Rice, Granddaddy Billie Rice, Granddaddy Chuck Hall, and Grandma Jo Hall.
