Megan Elizabeth Taylor Yeaton, 37, of Otway, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2026.

A private memorial service to honor Megan’s life was held at Munden Funeral Home.

Megan entered this world during a fierce winter blizzard on December 12, 1988. Born prematurely, she fought from her very first moments, earning the nickname “the miracle baby.” From the beginning, she demonstrated a strength and determination that would define her life. She was joyfully welcomed home by her older siblings, who adored her from the moment she arrived.

As a little girl, Megan was full of life—sassy, fun-loving, fiercely loyal, and a constant source of joy to everyone who knew her. As the youngest of all the cousins, she delighted in being spoiled by her beloved Granny and Uncle Charlie. Some of her happiest childhood memories were the special trips they shared together to Myrtle Beach.

Megan proudly served as the mascot for the East Carteret High School Class of 1993 after enthusiastically leading the senior class in a cheer on stage. She was never shy or afraid to talk to anyone!

She attended West Carteret High School and was a dedicated member of the school’s Color Guard. She also loved taking dance classes, especially ballet, where her creativity and joyful spirit shined.

Above all else, Megan’s greatest joy and proudest accomplishment were her two sons, Brady and Kalyb. They were the center of her world, and she loved them with all her heart.

She found happiness in artistic pursuits, working hard, spending time outdoors, saving any type of animal she could, and living life on her own terms. Megan had a free spirit and an independent heart that made her uniquely herself.

Though Megan faced many challenges throughout her life, she fought courageously until God called her home. While our hearts are broken and we will miss her every day, we take comfort in knowing that her suffering has ended and that she is now at peace in the loving presence of her Heavenly Father.

Megan is survived by her cherished sons, Brady Yeaton and Kalyb Stevenson, both of Otway; her loving parents, Patti and Robert Taylor of Otway; her sisters, Ashley Howard (Dave) of Otway and Erica Tisinger (Joel) of Carrollton, Georgia; her brother, Ryan Taylor of Otway; her beloved nieces and nephews, David Lawrence (Morgan), Gracey Lawrence, Will Lawrence, Bray Lawrence, Harrison Tisinger, Ann Holland Tisinger, Caitlyn Gualtieri and Mac Taylor; and great-niece Ada Lawrence. She also leaves behind her precious cats, Figaro and Maestro.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Maurice King Smith; Alta and Charlie Rose; and Gladys and Robert Taylor; and by her nephew, Ryan Allen Taylor, Jr.

The family finds comfort in the promise that those who trust in the Lord will one day be reunited, and they will forever cherish the love, laughter, and memories Megan leaves behind.
