Matthew "Matt" Hagen

Matthew “Matt” Riddick Hagen, 50, of Morehead City, NC, passed away Monday, December 4, 2023, at his home.  

Matt is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 27 years, Jennifer Pruitt Hagen; his mother, Sandra Akers Ivey, of Morehead City, NC; his father, Wilson Derald Hagen (Sandy), of Union Hall, VA; his brother, Jeff Hagen (Silke) of Germany; his nieces, Luisa Hagen and Evelyn Hagen; his step-brother, Chris Maddox; his step-niece, Marissa Maddox; his step-nephew, Johnathan Maddox; his step-sister, Tashia Maddox; his sister-in-law, Catherine Pruitt Stancil (Dale); his nephews, Lawson Stancil and Paul Stancil; his uncles, Garland Hagen (Jean) and Bo Hagen (Mary Lou); his cousins, Cary, Chris, Steven, Amy, and Katie; and his uncles, Harold Wright (Judy) and Jim Wright (Lisa).

Matt graduated from East Forsyth High School in 1991.  After attending Wake Forest University, he graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1996 with a BA in History.   Matt and Jennifer then moved to Morehead City as newlyweds, where he began his career, pursuing his passion for automobiles, and working for franchise and independent dealerships in the area.  He owned and operated his own successful dealership, Matt Hagen Motors, LLC, for the last eight years.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at One Harbor Church, 1605 Fisher Street, Morehead City, NC 28557.  Please drive your classic, collector, or interesting vehicle, or your Matt Hagen Motors purchase, in Matt’s honor.
