Obituary

Mary Anna D’Onofrio, 92, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Carteret Health Care.

A funeral mass to honor Mary’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 15 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Havelock presided by Rev. Thomas Davis. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 14 at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City.

Mary was born on May 31,1934, in Brooklyn, New York, to William and Anna Myers. She shared a beautiful marriage of more than 46 years with the love of her life, Paschal, building a life of cherished memories. Mary was an enthusiastic bingo player who never passed up an opportunity for a good game of friendly competition. She was a devoted baseball fan, cheering on her favorite team, the Tampa Bay Rays.

Mary was gifted with her hands and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and sewing, making beautiful handmade pieces for her family and friends. In her younger years, she loved playing Bocci ball and loved simply sitting back and people watching. When her eyesight allowed, she enjoyed sitting down with a good book. Her love and kindness will continue to be a source of comfort to her precious family who will miss her deeply.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her son, Charles D’Onofrio (Michele) of Oakdale, N.Y. and their children, Eric and Danielle (Jenny); daughters, Lori Alleman (Doug) of Newport N.C., and their children, Tony (Rebecca) and Shannon, Margaret Butler (Scott) of Hubert, N.C. and their children Tyler and Sarah, Patricia D’Onofrio of Newport, N.C. and her children, Joshua (Hunter) and Sophia; brothers, Vincent Myers of Staten Island, N.Y., William Myers of Holly Springs, N.C; great grandchildren, Hannah, Tessa, and Parker.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Paschal “Pat” D’Onofrio; and sister Julie.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mary’s memory to Herbert Reid Home, Inc., 715 Gum Branch Road, Suite 2, Jacksonville, N.C. 28540.
