Mimi was born on September 6, 1932, in Richmond County, North Carolina, to the late Charlie and Bessie Robinson. One of five children, she treasured the close bond she shared with her siblings throughout her life.
A devoted Christian, Mimi loved the Lord with all her heart and found great comfort and joy in reading her Bible. She was a longtime and faithful member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church, where she became the last surviving member of the congregation. Throughout the years, she faithfully served in many areas of the church, including teaching Sunday school, and was a wonderful example of unwavering faith and servant-hearted love.
Mimi was a dedicated and hardworking woman who spent 38 years as a garment inspector at Blue Bell Factory in Morehead City. She took tremendous pride in the quality of her work. Her strong work ethic, keen attention to detail, and dependable nature earned the admiration and respect of those who had the privilege of working alongside her.
Mimi had a generous heart and found great joy in caring for others. Her home was always a welcoming place, and no one ever left her table hungry. She loved cooking for family and friends and was especially known for making the best Rice Krispy treats and potato salad. She also enjoyed working in her yard, taking great pride in keeping it beautiful. In her spare time, she loved watching baseball, dancing, and relaxing with a good Western.
Above all else, Mimi cherished her family. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and brought her endless pride and happiness. She treasured every moment spent with her loved ones.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are her children, Virginia Louise Mason, Donald Wesley Mason III, and Michael David Mason (Becky), all of Newport, NC; sister, Evelyn Lewis of Newport, NC; brother, Dan Robinson (Laura Jean) of Ocracoke, NC; grandchildren, Tammy Michelle Pollock (Danny) of Newport, NC, Travis Kahn Mason of Raleigh, NC, Jordan K.
