Obituary

Martin Frederick Beaver Jr. “Fred”, 101, peacefully passed away at his home in Morehead City, NC on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, of natural causes.

Fred was born on August 13, 1924, in Selinsgrove, PA. He was one of 18 children to Martin Frederick Beaver Sr. and Laura Leitzel Beaver. After graduating from high school in 1944, he joined the Marine Corps where he became a machinist.

He married his love, Beatrice “Bea” Beaver on February 7, 1946, and moved to North Carolina, later working as a civilian on base at NADEP, Cherry Point. Fred happily retired at age 55 and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of retirement. He and Bea travelled by RV to most of the Continental United States, Canada and Mexico.

Fred’s favorite hobbies included anything outdoors; hunting, fishing, boating, as well as bowling, and playing pinochle at the Leon Mann Senior Center every Mon, Wed, and Fri. He loved family and loved living in North Carolina. Fred often said, “Morehead City is the best place on earth”. Fred and Bea were married 79 years, had four children, four grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren.

Fred was predeceased by his parents, 15 siblings, as well as his wife, Beatrice Beaver, and daughters, Doris Banks, Diana Dezern, and Mary Evans.

He leaves behind his son, Martin Frederick Beaver III, Freddie (Jean). He was also the proud grandfather of Sandra Pryor, Stephanie Dezern, Meridith Rizzuti, and Victor Banks Jr, as well as his 13 great grandchildren. Fred also leaves behind 2 siblings, Dean Beaver and Hope Street, both of Pennsylvania.
