Obituary

Marion Elaine Garner, 87, of Pollocksville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 9, 2026, at her daughter’s home in Havelock, North Carolina.

A graveside service honoring Marion and her daughter, Meri, will be held together at the Wetherington Family Cemetery in Askins, NC. Service details will be shared once finalized.

Born on May 13, 1939, in New Bern, North Carolina, Marion was the daughter of the late Charles Morris and Evelyn Wetherington Morris. She built a life filled with family, music, and the things she loved most.

Music was one of Marion’s greatest passions. A talented musician with a special love for singing, she enjoyed sharing her gift with others through her country rock band, Dixie Flash. Her love of music also included a radio show with her sister, Ruth, and father, Charles, known as the Morris Sisters.

Marion leaves behind a loving family who will treasure the memories they made with her. Those left to cherish her memory include her companion, Bob Lohr; her children, John Northcraft of Florida, Robert Northcraft of West Virginia, and Kimberly Morris Northcraft of North Carolina; her brother, Thomas Morris of North Carolina; her grandchildren, Sean Northcraft, Alexis Harlow, Derek Brokmeier, Hannah Sawyer, and Sara Turner; and 11 precious great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her beloved dogs, Chewy and Carlie Booboo, who held a special place in her heart.

In addition to her parents, Marion was preceded in death by her daughter, Meri Turner; her sisters, Ruth Morris and Kathleen Morris; her brothers, Eric Morris and Gordon Morris; and her granddaughter, Ian McClenny.
